Motherboard and two PCs: establish the prerequisites
The HMA workflow checks four independent board conditions: at least 32 MiB / 256 Mbit per bootable BIOS bank, an AMD platform excluding ASUS, a physical CPU-less Flashback button/port, and at least two PCIe CEM expansion slots electrically x4 or wider. M.2 does not count toward that slot requirement.
These are workflow prerequisites, not a support decision based on a chipset name. Check the full model and PCB revision in the motherboard checker. Missing specifications, shared lanes and unlisted models require review. The secondary PC also needs suitable physical clearance, a supported operating-system and trusted-driver combination, and confirmation of the delivered software requirements.

Can existing DMA hardware be reused?
List the secondary PC, NICs and optical components as reuse candidates, then verify each item. The HMA workflow uses two PCs, two X520-DA1 adapters and a matching SFP+ SR multimode fiber link. It does not require an additional dedicated DMA acquisition card or its firmware; this does not mean normal NICs avoid DMA internally.
Do not treat a DMA card, any 10GbE NIC, a USB adapter or different optical modules as interchangeable parts. Record exact models, interfaces, quantities and condition. Confirm fiber packaging, simplex/duplex construction and spare quantities before buying to avoid double-counting product listings.

What belongs in the budget?
Separate motherboard-related upgrades, the secondary PC, NICs for both ends, optical modules and fiber, authorized delivery and support, shipping and taxes, and a recovery/spares reserve.
