Secondary-PC installation and X520 setup

Run only on the secondary PC

Confirm the X520 and optical link are installed first. The installer changes drivers and advanced NIC properties.

01

Download and fully extract

Extract the complete ZIP locally, then run HEINO-HMA-install.bat or HEINO-HMA安装程序.bat as administrator.

  • Do not run inside the ZIP
  • Keep the BAT, Npcap, and driver directory together
  • Choose Chinese or English from the menu
Download secondary-PC package
02

Use one-click installation first

New users should choose option 5 to run environment checks, Npcap, X520 driver installation, and tuning in order.

  • Confirm the resource check passes
  • Restart first whenever Windows requests it
  • Keep the generated HEINO-HMA-install-log file
03

Enable Npcap compatibility mode

Accept the Npcap setup terms and enable WinPcap API-compatible Mode when the option appears.

  • Installer: Secondary PC\npcap-1.88.exe
  • Enable Install Npcap in WinPcap API-compatible Mode
  • Return to the HEINO-HMA installer after completion
04

Locate X520 manually

If automatic driver setup fails, open Device Manager. The card may appear as Ethernet Controller with a warning icon.

  • Hardware ID should include VEN_8086&DEV_10FB
  • Right-click and choose Update driver
  • Choose Browse my computer for drivers
05

Select the X520 driver folder

Point Windows to Secondary PC\x520_proxgb_driver and enable Include subfolders.

  • Do not select an unrelated parent folder
  • Continue and wait for Windows to finish
  • The device should become Intel(R) Ethernet Server Adapter X520-1
06

Apply the X520 baseline

Use Optimize X520 in the installer, or verify the Advanced tab of X520-1 manually.

  • Property names vary by driver language
  • Change only Intel X520-1, not the normal onboard NIC
  • These values are the delivery baseline, not general network advice
07

Restart and test the link

Restart the secondary PC, then verify the device and optical link. Keep the log for support.

  • No warning icon and X520-1 is recognized
  • Both optical endpoints remain linked
  • Submit log, hardware ID, device state, and screenshots if needed

Common installation questions

01The first boot takes a long time

Allow the full training process described by the board maker. Do not repeatedly cut power; submit indicator and log details if it exceeds that range.

02The system starts but the link is down

Check both X520 cards, drivers, SFP+ SR modules, fiber, and dedicated-link configuration separately.

03The board or BIOS must be replaced

Treat it as a new compatibility and delivery review; never reuse the old file directly.
